My work presents a hidden fragility.
------In parallel, there’s nothing we love more than showing off our strength - hard work – dedication, There’s nothing we fear more than revealing our own vulnerability - misfortune - failure - frustration.
I call to reveal that which we collectively hide, so we may see the greatest beauty is found behind the façade.
You’re beautiful when youve cried. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

about:
Omar de Jong (1997) is an Amsterdam-born and -based artist.
"As I work on my pieces, my dreamy thoughts spiral into deep inner dialogues on themes of beauty, belonging, humility and equality. The deep craftsmanship involved with ceramics allows me to focus my vision inward, as my hands make their way through each motion.
The first time I worked with clay, I was immediately captivated by its malleability and endless potential. Temporarily suspending my legal-studies during the Covid-pandemic, I took the opportunity to fully immerse myself into the ceramic medium. Having worked tirelessly to perfect the craft of wheel throwing, I am now able to create the refined and ethereal shapes that I hold closely to my heart.
Through sharing my pieces, I try to build connection; so that we may share our feelings too."
